Back in 2000 I moved back to Des Moines, Iowa from sunny California. Not having a ton of time to work out due to opening up a small coffee shop with my mother, I started running with a friend. It was after our runs that we used to sit on her deck and drink a few beers and eat her out of house and home! After several months, I realized that something had to change. I then found a personal trainer that didn't mess around! Thankfully I latched onto her and started my journey every morning at 5am at the downtown YMCA. Starting at a size 14-16 (tight squeeze), a couple of years later I moved down to a size 6. That success motivated me to help other people explore their journeys of health and wellness.
After moving from gym to gym I've found a great home at Fitness World 24. I do also enjoy going to my clients' homes and meeting people outside! There are so many avenues to health and they do NOT have to be in a gym! I've had the opportunity to work with many people from all walks of life. I focus my training on mind, body spirit. Its not about coming into the gym and learning how to lift weights. It's about coming into the gym and finding the best results in the time that you are there. Its about what goes into your mouth so working on your food is key! Along with both of these components, it's changing your mind and actions to fit your goals to be successful as a healthy individual.
The first time we meet, we will find a local coffee shop and talk about your goals and how to move forward. The next time we meet we will go through an assessment (no, I will not pinch or pull or make you run a mile!) and will talk about form, posture and areas of strength and weakness. This time will help me design a program for you to be successful with the time you spend in the gym or out of the gym.
